Dry Rot / Wet Rot

Damp causes timber rot and health problems.

Dry rot is a fungus and as such is more serious than wet rot. It requires prompt attention to curb as it spreads quickly through timber. Dry rot fruiting bodies release millions of spores and is recognizable by the red dust given off. Timber affected by dry rot needs to be removed and replaced with new timber.

Wet rot is only present when timber is moist. Once the moisture is removed, the rot will stop. Treatment of wet rot is done by spraying or brushing with micro-emulsion preservative fluids.
